We help people affected by kidney disease to live life as normally as possible, providing practical and emotional support as well as health and fitness through our free wellness programmes.

Our services

Home visits

If you want to speak to someone about your kidney condition in person, our experienced and knowledgeable team can visit you in your home.

We know the impact kidney disease may have on your life. Our staff also know that people have to make difficult choices and decisions in relation to treatment, transplants, dialysis etc. The good news is that we have supported 1000’s of clients over the years and we are here to help.

Wellness programme

When you are living with kidney disease, looking after yourself is important. We can help you get the most from your dialysis, your nutrition, your medication – and help you stay as fit, mobile, independent and positive as possible.

How it works

The Kidney Society Wellness Programme is a FREE home based service for people with kidney disease who are registered with the Kidney Society.

Our qualified Wellness Coordinator works with you, so together you can discover physical activities that meet your needs. You might have specific aims, such as to regain some strength and range of movement, or perhaps you’d just like to feel less out of breath; whether it’s walking on a regular basis, joining a Tai Chi class or aquarobics group or doing some exercises in your living room, whatever it is, we can help.

Community dialysis house

Having dialysis treatment at home means being able to take more control of your time and your life. However, for various reasons, some people can’t have a machine in their home. The Kidney Society has the next best thing – dialysis at a ‘home away from home!’ Together with Middlemore hospital, we have three community dialysis houses located in South Auckland. Take a look at the video, you’ll see our clients love the community house option. It’s not hard to get started, talk to us and your treatment provider.

If you're visiting New Zealand and need private dialysis services, please contact us and we will share details for private dialysis providers.
